Over $13,000 in profit was realized from the event with over 100 people in attendance.  While the attendance could certainly have been better, the people who attended enjoyed themselves immensely and were extremely generous in their donations.

A video photo montage was made available by many generous sponsors and was coordinated by State 1st Vice President Joseph Rondinelli.  It was a wonderful tribute from many friends of the New York Grand Lodge Foundation.  Also, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism was kind enough to donate an autographed football which was auctioned off at the event.  Many generous raffle prizes were also donated including two flat screen TV’s, an I Pad, several “Nook” tablets, a Keurig coffee machine and a Mac Book.

Michael Graziano, a talented young musician with autism, performed at the event and sang an original song he wrote about how he feels having autism.  He named the song “Accept Me” and  needless to say, he touched every single heart at the event.

The money raised at this event will eventually be donated to the SIF (Sons of Italy Foundation) in August of 2013.  In turn, the SIF will donate the funds to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, which is one of the main charities for the Sons of Italy Foundation.

The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism was established by NFL quarterback Doug Flutie and his wife Laurie, in honor of their son Doug Flutie, Jr. who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three.  Doug and Laurie are fortunate to have the resources to provide their son with the educational opportunities and special equipment and tools necessary for Doug, Jr. to live a happy and rewarding life.  They realized however, that there are thousands of families with children who struggle every day to pay for similar services.  Their primary objective is to provide families with a place to turn when they are in need of support and autism resources.  The mission of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life for people and families living with autism.  They are dedicated to increase the awareness of autism and the unique challenges of families who are faced with it every day.  Their commitment is to support these families by helping them find the resources they need by funding advocacy programs as well as educational, therapeutic and recreational opportunities.  For more information on the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for autism, log on to www.dougflutiejrfoundation.org.
