This gala affair will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, New York.  The cocktail hour will begin at 7:30pm followed by dinner and dancing.  The donation for our Winter Charity Ball will be $90 per person.  To commemorate this special event, a Souvenir Journal will be published.  With over 250 guests expected to be in attendance, the evening promises to be a social and financial success.
Anthony J. Baratta of Chicago, Illinois, the 34th National President of the Order Sons of Italy in America, will be lauded for his outstanding leadership and commitment to OSIA’s charitable endeavors.
Our Special Recognition Award will be presented to Antoinette Biordi, News 12 Long Island reporter.  Mrs. Biordi is an Emmy Award-winning reporter who has been in the news business since 1997.  She has proven herself as an extraordinary journalist and a role model for all Italian Americans to admire.
We will also be recognizing Joseph Iavarone, Pat Iavarone, and John Iavarone (The Iavarone Brothers) by presenting each of them with our Special Humanitarian Award.  Iavarone Bros. is one of the largest and most highly regarded specialty food companies in the New York area.  They have received numerous accolades for their philanthropy on behalf of community schools, libraries, scholarship programs, and charitable organizations.
In addition, Cpl. Manuel Ocia Jimenez, USMC will be receiving a Special Courage & Patriotism Award.  While serving our country in Afghanistan in June 2010, he was severely injured and has been working with “Team Hope for the Warriors” since shortly after receiving his injuries.  This group enhances the quality of life for post- 9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen, who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.  Cpl. Jimenez is just one of the many heroes who has sacrificed his future for our country.
The objective of the NYSOSIA Winter Charity Ball is to help provide funds for various charitable endeavors.  Support of this annual event enables the Foundation to continue its philanthropic mission in supporting charitable causes as in past years.
