The New York Grand Lodge Foundation, Order Sons of Italy in America held its 28th Golden Lion Dinner at the Garden City Hotel on Friday evening, April 30, 2010.  With over 175 guests in attendance, this prestigious event was both a financial and social success.

Vice President of the Foundation, Joseph Rondinelli served as the General Dinner Chairperson and lauded the accomplishments of the 2010 Golden Lion recipients …. Hon. Richard Greco, President, Filangieri Capital Partners and Dr. Fabrizio Michelassi, Lewis Atterbury Stimson Professor, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Surgeon-in-Chief, New York-Presbyterian Hospital at Weill Cornell Medical Center.  The singular 2010 Citizen Award was presented to Robert McBride, Vice President, Park Strategies, LLC.

Joseph J. DiTrapani Elected National OSIA President

Joseph J. DiTrapani, a long time member of Per Sempre Lodge No. 2344, Lynbrook, New York and Past President of the New York Grand Lodge, Order Sons of Italy in America ... has been elected by acclamation as the 33rd National President of the Supreme Lodge, Order Sons of Italy in America.  New York OSIA’s Past First Lady Carol DiTrapani has now become National First Lady of the Supreme Lodge.

Scholarship Awards of $72,000 to 59 Deserving Students
 
The New York Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc., Order Sons of Italy in America awarded $72,000 in scholarship and grant money to 59 students on Saturday, June 13th.  At a special awards ceremony held at Rockland Community College, 43 students and their families were present to receive the awards.  Also in attendance were Foundation President Salvatore Lanzilotta, College President Dr. Cliff Wood and Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef.  The keynote speaker was the Town Clerk of Clarkstown, David Carlucci … a young public servant who spoke to the scholarship recipients about following their dreams because all things are possible in this great country of the USA.
