The Foundation was incorporated in 1982 to raise money and donate to various recognized charities and to initiate and donate to educational programs that will foster awareness of Italian heritage and culture. For over three decades the New York Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc. has donated nearly a million dollars to national and international charities and philanthropies. Our most prestigious charitable endeavor is our Annual Scholarship Awards program at which we donate over $90,000 to deserving young Italian American students in scholarship and special grants.
Through the National SIF, the New York Grand Lodge Foundation continually runs fund raising campaigns for the following three national charities:
The Alzheimer's Association is the largest national voluntary health organization committed to finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease and helping those affected directly and indirectly by the disease.
The Cooley's Anemia Foundation (CAF) serves people affected by the fatal genetic blood disease thalassemia, or Cooley's anemia, often found in people of Mediterranean descent. Its mission is to advance treatment, enhance the quality of life of patients and educate the medical community, trait carriers and the public about the disease. The New York Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc. is the largest donor to the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation throughout the country.
Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism
